In In partnership with the HBS Healthcare Association of San Diego, The Virtual Roundtable Series will leverage Harvard Business School insights and ideas to address regional challenges and bring together experts from across the Harvard ecosystem to facilitate discussion, debate, and discover ways to help solve the key challenges facing the Biopharmaceutical, Life Sciences, and government most pressing challenges.

Biographies
Matamba Austin is an ESG partner that helps clients achieve their ESG goals through partnerships, acquisitions, and internal transformations. Matamba has deep experience helping private equity firms, healthcare, life sciences, and technology-enabled services organizations through the goal setting, strategy development, and execution phases of their initiatives. Matamba’s passion for this work stems from the fact that he owes his existence to ESG initiatives. He is a first-generation American of Caribbean and African heritage. Both of his parents come from underprivileged backgrounds and were able to emigrate to the USA and start a family thanks to their fortuitous access to US-funded and administered ESG programs. Matamba has helped clients with their decarbonization, DEI, health equity and ESG governance initiatives. Matamba has a BA from Harvard College and JD from Harvard Law School.
Claudia von Hammerstein’s work focuses on improving global health through health technology innovation and sustainability. She works with pharmaceutical, medical products, and digital health companies typically on strategic, digital, and organizational issues. She co-leads our global medical affairs work and has developed innovative approaches such as analytics for unmet medical needs and medical launch readiness. Claudia is a leader in our sustainability work in the firm’s Pharmaceuticals & Medical Products Practice across the environmental, social, and governance sectors, and works with innovative health technology companies to push the boundaries in this space.
Dr. Anita Gupta is Chief Executive Officer of the Strata Group, Inc., a leading global healthcare business firm specializing in strategy, policy, and innovation. She serves as a Board of Director of HealthyWomen and Board Advisor of Bionaut, Inc. Dr. Gupta served on the Board of Directors of Amorsa Therapeutics, Inc, a biopharmaceutical neuroscience company, aligning a strategic collaboration facilitated by Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Gupta has held the positions of Senior Vice President, Medical Strategy and Government Affairs at Heron Therapeutics, Inc, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company focused on oncology and pain therapeutics, and Vice-Chair of Tenet Healthcare at Drexel University School of Medicine. She serves as an HBS Ambassador, FDA advisor, Department of Defense advisor, and appointed member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine Global Forum and a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Gupta serves as appointed faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Anesthesiology and Critical Care. Dr. Gupta holds an M.P.P. and H.H.P. from Princeton University, GMP in Business Management from Harvard Business School, B.S and Pharm.D. in Pharmacy, from Rutgers University, and a D.O. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Gupta is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine and is a fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and named a Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Scholar, Top 100 Inspiring Leader by PharmaVoice, Top 10 Emerging Leader by Pharmaceutical Executives, and Top 10 Women of Influence by Fierce Healthcare.
