Race plays a role in creating medical mistrust, impacting both practitioners and patients. In this presentation, Dr. Crichlow discusses how the current structure and culture of medicine perpetuates mistrust and hinders communication. She reminds us that the burden of trust-building is on us, not our patients.

Interprofessional and community collaboration is one strategy to achieve racial equity and social justice in healthcare. In this presentation, Dr. Spencer explores the impacts of structural racism on our healthcare system and in health outcomes. He encourages us to reflect on ways that we can reduce these impacts in our BIPOC communities.
