Robert M. Karanjais a scientist and development entrepreneur, working at the interface of science, industry and venture capital with over 18 years experience in the global health and life sciences sector. As a scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), he initiated intrapreneurial ventures with the aim of supporting a local vibrant bioeconomy in Kenya. This includes the development of pilot manufacturing R&D facility for nutraceuticals & phytomedicines products development, and designing a multidisciplinary course on biotechnology commercialization. This led to his entrepreneurial career in the private sector as a co-founder of Kenya’s first genomics company, The African Genomics Centre and Consulting Ltd (TAGCC), and as Co-founder of Villgro Africa – an early stage business incubation and investment platform that invests in startups in the health and life sciences sector.
