The 2023 Case Competition was held Feb 23-24, 2023 at Yale University as part of the annual student-run Yale Healthcare Services Innovation Case Competition. The focus of the competition was to help a U.S. healthcare services organization solve a strategic challenge.

Eleven BAHM program teams pitched solutions on re-imagining care delivery for individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The competition was sponsored by RHA Health Services, which provides support services to individuals living with Behavioral Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in four different states.

Thank you to the student organizers of the Yale Healthcare Services Innovation Case Competition at the Yale School of Management for hosting the competition.

University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management (First place): Shabdit Shah, David Guo, Priyanka Thakkar, and, Yu Wang: The team detailed how RHA Health Services can expand, considering shifts in payment models towards value-based care and pressing labor challenges. Their solution entailed an acquisition-based strategy to expand into home-based IDD primary care while incorporating value-based payment models into the business.

Yale University (Second place):
Jon Yee, Jacob Eisner, Pelumi Adedayo, Michelle Hatch
The team proposed a value-based payment model and the expansion of RHA’s autism service line via an acquisition strategy.

University of Colorado Denver (Third place):
